The Coca-Cola Scholarship is offered by the Coca-Cola Scholars Foundation, which was started in 1989. The foundation has helped more than 5,700 students fund their dreams of a higher education. Students who are awarded the Coca-Cola Scholarship are those who have proven that they can lead and have achieved academic excellence throughout their time in high school.

The ideal student winner of the scholarship will continue to exhibit leadership and excellence skills throughout their life and in their new careers. The program itself is more than just a financial aid to go to school and the Coca-Cola Scholars Foundation wants all of the winners and their families to continue to stay in touch and teach younger students about their available opportunities.

The Coca-Cola Foundation believes that it is best to invest money into students who have displayed that they are able to help others and strive for the best. The mission of the Coca-Cola Scholars Foundation is unique and simple and that is to help provide scholarship programs that will award students with a lifetime of enrichment and opportunities to excel in life.

As of 2015, the Coca-Cola Scholars Foundation has over 5,500 scholars within the alumni family and has awarded of $63,000,000 in scholarships since 1989. The total amount of scholarships awarded in 2015 alone was $3,000,000 and is the average amount that is awarded annually. Those who won the scholarship were from a total of 35 different states and 56 percent were females and 44 percent were males.

About the Coca-Cola Scholarship

There are some eligibility requirements that must be met to apply for and be awarded the Coca-Cola Scholarship. Students must be currently enrolled in a US high school and be a senior. Home-schooled senior students qualify as well.

Students must be a US citizen, US permanent resident, or a US national. All applicants must expect to receive and be on track to receive their high school diploma at the time the application is turned in. In addition, all applicants must be planning to attend a US college or university.

Students who do apply for the Coca-Cola Scholarship must have a minimum of a 3.0 GPA at the end of their junior year in high school. Applicants cannot be children or grandchildren of any Coca-Cola employees, owners, or officers.

The Coca-Cola Scholarship is awarded to all winning students in different amounts based on their eligibility and whether they were chosen. 200 different stipends are awarded for the year. 50 students will receive $1,500, 50 students will receive $1,250, and 50 students will receive $1,000.

The application process is simple and requires all applicants to fill out and submit the application online. If chosen as a semifinalist, students will need to provide all requested documents including transcripts, letters of recommendation, and essays.

The deadline to apply for the 2016 school year was October 31, 2015. The new application acceptance date will begin in August of 2016 for the 2017 school year. All students who wish to apply for the Coca-Cola Scholarship should make note of the deadlines.
