This Union offers ten $5,000 scholarships to Colorado students who maintain a minimum GPA of 3.5 and who are either currently enrolled or planning to enroll full-time in an accredited institution of higher education. Helen K. and Arthur E. Johnson Foundation Scholarship
This is a $2,600 scholarship that is available only to students of Native American or Alaska Native descent and who are attending or planning to attend any of the tribal institutions of higher education. Eligible applicants must be a registered member or have a parent or grandparent registered as a member of government recognized tribe, and be a resident of Colorado. Candidates should complete an online application which includes submission of a digital photo, proof of tribal affiliation, a digitized copy of academic transcripts reflecting a minimum GPA of 2.0 and financial need documentation. Dottie R. Walker Scholarship
Presented by Learning and Educating About Disabilities Foundation, this opportunity offers one $1,000 scholarship available to one Colorado student who has been officially documented to have a learning disability including ADHD and who has a minimum GPA of 2.8. Students must submit a completed application, two letters of recommendation, an official transcript and proof of learning disability. The application package must also include some short responses to 4 questions regarding leadership and educational strengths, past and present examples of self-advocacy as well as a description of self-advocacy strategies to be employed while at college. Rocky Mountain Coal Mining Technical School Scholarship
This scholarships is presented by the Rocky Mountain Coal Mining Institute. It offers eight $5,500 scholarships to assist students majoring in the areas of engineering and geology and who’s degree will culminate in a coal industry career. Eligible candidates must be a resident of Colorado and must be an enrolled sophomore at an accredited four-year college or university. A completed application with a 150 word personal essay, three references and an employment resume is required for consideration. The deadline for the scholarship is February 15, 2017. The Colorado Horticultural Society offers one $1,000 scholarship for a student who is planning a career in horticulture or a related degree program. Eligible candidates must be a resident of Western Colorado and be able to demonstrate solid academic ability and promise.
