Comcast Corporation is a multinational media company and is the largest cable television company in the entire world. Founded in 1963 by Ralph Roberts and his two partners, Daniel Aaron and Julian Brodsky, Comcast has grown and evolved exponentially throughout the years and continues to be extremely successful to this day. Headquartered in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, Comcast services both residents and commercial facilities in 40 different states as well as the District of Columbia. It has over 153,000 employees and last year alone it made more than $74 billion in revenue. Since its founding, it has seen many mergers and continues to grow and increase its worth. Some of the companies Comcast has acquired or merged with include AT&T Broadband, Plaxo, NBCUniversal, and DreamWorks Animation. Comcast Corporation founded the Comcast Foundation in June of 1999 in order to provide support to qualified charities and nonprofit organizations. Investing in various programs and nonprofits, the Foundation focuses on organizations and initiatives that will strengthen and bond members of communities. Their main focus is on encouraging diversity and, to achieve this, they fund programs that consist of digital literacy, community service and volunteering opportunities, and building and inspiring youth to be leaders. Since the Comcast Foundation began, it has contributed more than $176 million in donations to organizations worldwide. In 2014 alone, it donated more than $17 million in grants to nonprofit organizations.

The Comcast Foundation is a proud sponsor of the Comcast Leaders and Achievers Scholarship Program. This scholarship recognizes ambitious and motivated high school seniors who are leaders in their Comcast communities. Comcast created this scholarship to award those students who are committed to academic achievement, community service, and to being leaders in their schools and communities, demonstrating excellent qualities that embody the Comcast Foundation mission. The Comcast Leaders and Achievers Scholarship is a one-time $1,000 scholarship that will be awarded to a lucky student who meets the eligibility requirements and who has been nominated by their school guidance counselor or principal. This award is for high school seniors that are currently enrolled in a high school that resides within a Comcast community. In order to verify this, the student must submit the Comcast School Code which can be obtained by the principal or school guidance counselor. Eligible students are required to have a minimum 2.8 grade point average and they must be planning to attend an accredited college, university, or technical school located in the United States. Students will demonstrate leadership abilities in their schools and communities through various activities they are involved in or work experiences. They must also display a strong dedication and commitment to improving their neighborhood and city through community service. All required materials and applications must be submitted by December 3rd in order to be considered. Only one student can be nominated per school and if more than one name is submitted, all nominations will be rejected.
