Barnes Scholarship

Barnes offers four renewable $15,000 awards for high achieving high school seniors from Tampa Bay area who have maintained a minimum GPA of 3.0 and who are planning to enroll in an accredited college or university outside of Florida. Successful candidates will have demonstrably prevailed over extraordinary life challenges. Students should submit an online application for consideration. Scholarship packets are accepted between August 1st October 19th. More information can be found online.

Bernie Varnadore Scholarship Program

This program awards eleven $1,250 awards to Florida high school seniors who have belonged to any franchised Dixie Boys Baseball program ages 12-19. Candidates should submit an application, a Financial Statement form, provide two recommendation letters along with transcripts and SAT or ACT scores. A 150 word essay explaining intended career goals and any future contributions to society is required. Applicants much submit a statement of participation from a local league office and a self-portrait in formal attire.  The scholarship deadline is April 1, 2017. You can find more information online.

General Mills Health Scholarship

In collaboration with Congressional Black Caucus Foundation, General Mills Health Scholarship is offering forty-six $2,000 scholarships to African-American or black high school seniors intending to enroll in an accredited college or university. Undergraduate or graduate students from a CBC member district are also considered. Students who do not live in the 24th district are ineligible to apply. Applicants must have a 2.75 GPA or higher and either plan to or already be concentrating their studies in health-related fields, engineering or technology. Youth College Scholarships

Presented by Central Florida Fair’s Board of Directors, are three $2,500 awards intended for graduating high school seniors planning to attend an accredited institution of higher education and who have demonstrated their outstanding support of and participation in the Central Florida Fair. Applicants must live in Orange, Osceola, Lake, Brevard, Seminole or Volusia counties. Application packages will be judged on a 100 point scale with the four areas of scoring concentrated on personal information, how much the candidate participated in the Fair, and two essays on topics concerning meaningfulness of winning the scholarship and the impact Central Florida Fair has had on the student’s life. Central Florida Jazz Scholarships Program

The Central Florida Jazz Scholarship Program offers six awards totaling $7,000  for the purpose of jazz music study to high school seniors living in Central Florida or who are intending to enroll at an accredited college or university there. The scholarships are available as well to college freshmen, sophomores or juniors already enrolled in Central Florida institutions of higher education for jazz music. Candidates are required to submit an initial screening recording of two specified selections and a letter of recommendation. The scholarship deadline is March 8, 2017.
