ARRL Charles Clarke Cordle Memorial Scholarship

This scholarship offers one award of $1,000 to high school seniors living in the state of Georgia with active Amateur Radio License Class status. Students must have a minimum GPA of 2.5 and intend to major in electronics and communications. Students are required to submit a completed online application and appropriate documentation for consideration. The scholarship deadline is January 31, 2017. You can find more information online.

Constitutional Officers Association of Georgia

The Georgia Constitutional Officers Association offers four scholarships totaling $3,600 to high school seniors from Georgia who are intending to enroll in an accredited Georgia institution of higher education in the areas of government, law enforcement, political science, accounting/finance, business or pre-law. Candidates must be a U.S. citizen. Completed application packets include a 1,000 word essay about the relationships between legislature and  elected officers, an acceptance letter from the college or university, proof of Georgia residency and a completed application form. The scholarship deadline is April 1, 2017.

Charles Harbin III Memorial Scholarship

The Charles Harbin III Memorial Scholarship offers three awards of $1,500 to high school seniors and current undergraduates who have a minimum GPA of 2.75 and who are in need of financial assistance. Applicants must submit an online application along with a 500 word essay describing yourself from the point of view of object close to your passion — for example your favorite skateboard or ballet slippers. Also required is a second piece of writing comprised of a 500 word short story based on one of five given titles. Students should submit a letter of recommendation, a current transcript, and a copy of your Student Aid Report. Also required of high school seniors, a copy of an acceptance letter from the institution of higher education to be attended. The scholarship deadline is April 22, 2017.

Silver Pen Writing Competition

Presented by Senior Living Communities and Wellmore, the Silver Pen Writing Competition makes available four awards of $1,500 to high school seniors who live in a 25 mile radius of Marsh’s Edge Retirement Community which includes students from Brunswick High School, and Frederica and Glynn Academies. Applicants must submit an online application, an essay on a topic to be updated each year, a letter of recommendation and school transcripts. Essays are judged on perspective, theme development, whether or not it’s deemed inspirational, if it contains a personal connection, creativity and clarity. Essays should be original and between 600 – 1,000 words. The scholarship deadline is February 15, 2017. You can find more information online.

Watson-Brown Foundation Scholarships

The Watson-Brown Foundation offers 200 renewable, both need and merit-based $5,000 scholarships to high school seniors intending to enroll in an accredited four year intuition. The scholarships are also available to undergraduate students who’s enrollment has been approved. Applicants must complete an online application packet that includes a personal essay, a financial needs statement, and a resume of academic, extra-curricular, employment and volunteer experiences. In addition, other requirements include two letters of recommendation, transcripts, SAT or ACT scores and a copy of the parent’s IRS 1040 form. The scholarship deadline is February 15, 2017.
