The Hatterscheidt Scholarship

Presented by the Hatterscheidt Foundation, Inc. in cooperation with Augustana University, the Hatterscheidt Scholarship offers five $2,000 to high school seniors of SouthDakota who have a minimum GPA of 3.0  and who are planning to attend Augustana University full-time. Applicants must apply for federal student aid and demonstrate financial need.  Qualifying students should submit a completed application, official transcripts, and three letters of recommendation for consideration. Catholic United Financial Post-High School Tuition Scholarship

This scholarship is available to high school graduates of South Dakota who are in their first or second year of higher education. The amounts are $500 for those planning to attend a Catholic institution of higher education and $300 for those attending non-Catholic institutions. Applicants must have been a member of Catholic United for a minimum of two years before submitting the application. Candidates should create an online account to accept and submit a completed application with other necessary documentations. The scholarship deadline is February 15, 2017. South Dakota Opportunity Scholarship

Formerly named the Regents Scholarship Program, the South Dakota Opportunity Scholarship offers a four-year award of $6,500 to academically achieving South Dakota high school seniors planning full-time attendance at an accredited in-state college or university. Fund installments are $1,300 for the first three years and $2,600 for the last year. Candidates should submit a completed application form, official transcripts, and ACT of SAT scores. Jerry Wheeler Scholarship

Presented by South Dakota Retailers Association, this opportunity offers several awards ranging from $500 – $1,600 to students pursuing an education in retail or business related field of study. Candidates must have graduated from a South Dakota high school and plan to attend an in-state post-secondary institution although some on-line schooling is permitted if it meets the qualifications determined by the scholarship guidelines. Along with the completed application, submit a goal statement inclusive of challenges and accomplishments or provide a substitute video version. Also, include transcripts and two letters of recommendation. The scholarship deadline is April 18, 2017.

Vincent L. Hawkinson Foundation Scholarship

The Vincent Hawkinson Foundation program offers undergraduate and graduate awards between $4,000 -$5,000 to students who’s pursuit of peace and justice is a demonstrable and passionate aspect of their lives. Scholarship applicants must be a resident of or currently attending school in South Dakota and agree to a personal interview during the application process. Recipients will receive their award at the Foundation’s fall meeting. Candidates should submit a completed application with supporting documentation, have participated in a specific peace and justice project, served as a role model and demonstrated leadership in a peace and justice organization as defined by the Foundation. The scholarship deadline is March 15, 2017.
