Bird Dog Foundation Essay Contest
Presented by The Bird Dog Foundation, Inc., this scholarship offers two $1,500 awards to Tennessee high school seniors winning their essay contest. Entrants must submit a 900 -1,000-word essay on one of the provided topics such as but not limited to agroforestry, ecotourism, endangered species, habitats preservation or the hunting dog. It is advised that essay writers craft their essays in a positive, constructive light and weave their personal experiences into the writing. Jack Diller Education Award
The Jack Diller Education Award is presented by the Nashville Predators Foundation and offers four $2,500 scholarships to high school seniors in the Nashville and Middle Tennessee area. A teacher or coach must nominate all candidates by submitting a letter of recommendation to the Foundation. Nominated students will have a minimum GPA of 3.0 from sophomore to senior year and are planning to enroll in an accredited college or university. Candidates must submit a completed online essay along with a two or three-page personal essay which provides compelling reasoning for receiving the scholarship. James A. Hyter Vocal Music Scholarship
Presented by Community Foundation of Greater Memphis, this Vocal Music scholarship offers awards ranging from $500 – $1,500 to students residing in or who attend college in the Memphis area. Candidate must have a love for music and a gift for singing, and will be required to present a vocal audition in person in the categories of classical, gospel/spiritual, and show tunes. Applicants should submit a completed application, a one-page personal statement detailing educational goals as well as professional goals, the titles of the music to be performed at the audition, and two letters of recommendation. Christa McAuliffe Scholarship
Presented by Tennessee Students Assistance Corporation, this opportunity offers $500 awards to a second-semester Tennessee college junior who is enrolled full-time in a teacher education program at an accredited college or university. Applicants must submit a completed online application with official transcripts demonstrating a minimum GPA of 3.5 as well as SAT/ACT scores that exceed the national average. Tennessee Teaching Scholars Program
Offered through the Tennessee Student Assistance Corporation, there are various awards available to undergraduate students in their junior and senior year and to post-graduates who have been accepted into a teacher education program. Attendance requirements are full-time for undergraduates and at least part-time for graduate students at an in-state accredited college or university. Candidates must submit a completed application, with a letter of verification from the teacher education program, academic transcripts, and documentation of admission into the program.
